if you come to damage property or hurt people there will be consequences. >> even though he pleaded not guilty his attorney says he is taking responsibility for his role in the vandalism and asking for forgiveness from san francisco. that act of vandalism is costing muni a million dollars. insurance will not cover the damage. in addition to the smashed windows the bus was also set on fire. it was valued at $700,000 but $300,000 worth of work was done to it. another deadly head on collision today. it happened at 1:45 p.m. this afternoon. a spokesperson said a driver lost control and crossed into on coming traffic hitting a car head on. the driver was killed. he is identified as a 67-year-

old man. the driver of the truck suffered minor injuries. the accident shut down north bound lanes till 5:15 p.m. a bus accident today at a retirement community injured four people about 11:00 a.m. this morning. the bus hit a power pole, jumped the curve and ran off the road. 4 passengers went to the hospital. the driver was uninjured. a power line snarled traffic for an hour. officials say a molotov cocktail may have been used to light a fire at a hair salon. flames gutted the magic touch salon last night. investigators say the fire may have been deliberately set after finding a molotov

cocktail outside. the owner doesn't know anyone who would want to target her business. police have arrested three men in connection with a series of home burglaries. the men were arrested last week after a homeowner caught them trying trying to break into her house. all three suspects are 18 years old. and they linked them to two other recent break ins. businesses today presented a big donation to the widow of a fallen highway parole officer. she accepted the $26,000 check. ktvu and our sister station joined them to make the donation. he was shot and killed during a traffic stop on highway 680 in september. the contra costa county peace officer's association is planning a benefit friday night for the family.

the event is planned for the wedding and banquet center in san ramon. protesters gathered to help a cancer patient fight eviction. she is battling cancer and the banks. she received notice she is being evicted. today her supporters held a rally. they say a property management company is due to clear out the house tomorrow morning and they will be on hand to block the eviction. bay area students released thousands of salmon into waters. students have been tending to 10,000 salmon for the last six months. the release was important for the students. last year it was targeted by vandals who cut the nets and let the fish go days before the students were to release them.

the property owner told ktvu the man lived in the home on and off with his wife and two sons. for the second straight day thousands of workers are walking the picket lines at raley's and nob hill foods. the workers say they are striking over a proposal to reduce health benefits and eliminate them for older employees. they say they are no longer demanding changing to the benefits but said we must reduce our operating costs to become more competitive. there are 40 raley's and nob hill foods in the bay area. the stores are spread out through most of the 9 bay area counties. google says a judge dismissed a lawsuit brought by apple. they claim their practices were unfair. the trial between the two was set to begin today in wisconsin.
